Culture Mandala
Henna Hand
I will grade what you do each class.
Culture Mandala
In this project, you will create a personal mandala based on images from your cultural heritage.
You could also use a sunburst or tattoo instead of a mandala.
You could also use a sunburst or tattoo instead of a mandala.
Variation: Instead of your cultural heritage, you could use images based on an interest of yours. For example, if you love soccer, the design could be based on that.
Or, if you absolutely, positively, do not want to do Photoshop, this would work, in colored pencil and markers. Same idea, show your cultural heritage. Google henna hand for more ideas.
Standards:
Students will understand and apply media, techniques, and processes.
Standard 2.0 Structures and Functions
Students will use knowledge of both structures and functions.
What I want you to know or do:
1. Create artwork that contains elements of your cultural heritage
2. Demonstrate thorough knowledge and use of media and problem solving
3. Scan and upload a drawing
4. Use Photoshop to color your artwork
3 ways you can do this:
1. Traditional_colored pencil on paper
2. Photoshop only. High resolution images....at least 1000x1000.
3. Ink drawing, scan, finish in Photoshop
Done already:
Questions and discussion:
What is a culture?
Where does culture come from?
How many people does it take to make a culture?
What is the origin of your last name? Google origin of names, then go to Ancestry.com.

Steps for Culture Mandala
1. Make a new folder and save it on your desktop. If you don't see this menu, the Finder menu, click any where on your desktop.
2. Select at least 10 high resolution images from the Internet that you want to use in your artwork. On a search engine such as Google, try words from your cultural heritage.
Look at this link and save the photos in the folder on your desktop.
3. Make a Photoshop document, File>New, that is:
Width: 10 inches (be sure it is inches, not pixels)
Height: 10 inches (be sure it is inches, not pixels)
Resolution: 200
Color Mode: RGB Color
4. Put your images in the Photoshop document.
